The title "Daybreak" is a reference to a metaphor important to me. This part of the day is a special moment where the darkness starts brightening up. It's a motif for new ideas, for rebirth, for moving forward.

During my works I love to take inspiration from the elements of nature, especially from cyclic nature of living things, since in my life I also tend to notice those repeating moments, even if they are not always as fluent and constant as they would be in the nature. From the day-night cycle I've highlighted the daybreak, a short lived, elusive moment, which I wanted to capture in stone and turn it into a presentable object.

From a technical standpoint, layering is an experimental type of work for me, which pushes the boundaries of sculpture and painting. It's a sculpture made with a painters eye. The work itself has been built up from layered acrylic paint, and surrounded by concrete.
